President Donald Trump told his staff on Friday he was not going to “leave this country until I’m dead.”
“I will leave the country and I’m going not to leave until I die,” Trump said.
Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway also made it clear on Twitter that Trump “will live on” until “the day I’m not here.”
Trump made headlines earlier this month when he told the Associated Press that he would not leave office until the date of his death.
He then said he would do “everything in my power to make sure that happens.”
Trump’s first 100 days have been marked by several major controversies, including the ongoing FBI probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
In recent days, Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with the FBI and FBI Director Christopher Wray, saying that he does not trust the bureau to lead the investigation.
Trump said he was ready to do “whatever I can” to end the FBI investigation and said he has “absolute confidence” in the new FBI director.
