The world of gel nail designs is vast, but the design process is not.
We’ve all seen them at parties and at the gym, but few know how to create the best ones.
Here’s how.
1.
Get the right gel nail polish color.
There are different types of gel polish that work well with a design, and you need to figure out which ones you like.
Most of us know that black is the best, but that’s not always the case.
For example, if you’re a brunette and want a black gel polish, you might want to try a darker shade.
Another good option is a green or blue polish.
You can also try the new, super-cool green color, which is called “Gel Glow.”
It has an orange undertone and is actually an emulsion of three different types: an emulsifier, a silicones, and a UV-blocking agent.
These emulsifiers add shine to the gel nail.
The color of the gel must match the color of your nail, which in this case would be black.
2.
Use a color-matched adhesive.
This is where it gets a little tricky.
Gel nail adhesive works best with a color that matches the design you’re trying to create.
You don’t want to apply too much of the glue to a gel polish before it’s completely dry.
So, if your nail looks like a pinky, use a darker, slightly less glittery shade, such as red.
This will make it easier for you to attach the gel to the nail.
3.
Apply a gel coat of gel.
This takes less time and is easier to apply than gel nail adhesive, but it’s more prone to fading.
To make sure your gel nail is ready to go, apply a coat of a gel-based polish.
This method works best for the more delicate, matte-looking nails, which are more likely to fade if they’re not properly cared for.
4.
Paint the gel-covered area with glitter.
Some gel nail paint is specifically formulated for the use of gel nails.
It’s available in different shades and a range of finishes.
Some brands are also available in “shimmery” colors that will help prevent the gel from fading.
5.
Apply the gel coat to the nails with a wet, soft nail file.
This file is also known as a “dry file.”
It allows you to apply a thinner coat of polish to a design that’s already dry.
You may also want to paint the design in black or a metallic color, to avoid it from looking too glossy or dull.
6.
Apply your gel polish.
Use your nail file to smooth out the design and allow it to dry completely.
This should take about 10 minutes to complete.
7.
Repeat this process over and over until the design is done.
You’ll probably need to clean the design area a couple of times during the process, but don’t worry, you’ll be able to take a photo of the finished product.
8.
Use the same technique for the next design.
Repeat the process until you’ve finished the design on each nail.
Your design is finished!
