The Washington Nationals are hoping to continue their season-opening success, even as they battle a rash of injuries.
The team announced Friday that outfielder Bryce Harper has returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games due to a back injury, while outfielder Matt Wieters has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
The Nats are 1-3 since Harper returned, but are tied with the Yankees for the worst record in the National League.
“We’re just trying to win games and have fun with it,” general manager Mike Rizzo said of the Nationals’ resurgence.
The Nationals are 0-2 since Wieter’s return, but have scored three runs or fewer in nine of their last 10 games. “
And we’re just excited to get back and get some wins.”

They’re also 3-2 in their last nine home games.

The Nationals announced Friday they have placed outfielder Ian Desmond on the 15-day DL with a groin strain.
“The doctor feels that he’s at a greater risk of a long-term injury,” manager Dusty Baker said.
“So that’s an added concern.”
Desmond, the team’s most productive player, is hitting .271 with two homers and 15 RBIs.
Desmond also had surgery in late June to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.
Desmond was one of two outfielders on the Nationals roster to return from injury after the break.
“I think it’s important that you have some flexibility, as far as your playing time and how many games you can play, and that’s why we’ve been really careful in how we’ve gone about the process,” Baker said of making roster cuts.
The Wizards, who have won six of their past seven games, are 2-1 in their past 10 games after winning seven of their previous eight.
Washington has won five of the past six games, including a 7-4 victory against the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
The last time the Wizards lost nine consecutive games was on Feb. 1, 2012.
The Redskins have won their past six regular-season games by a combined score of 106-77.
Washington is 1-2 against the Nats in their regular-term series.
Washington won three games in a row at home, including three straight from 2011-12.
Washington had a season-high nine hits on Friday, but Washington’s offense scored just five runs in the first six innings.
“This is a game we can win and we should be playing better and playing better,” Baker added.
Washington hit just one home run against the Cardinals, but is averaging 2.7 runs per game over its past seven home games against the Cardinal.
