What’s the deal with Gina K?

Gina K has made it a point to be visible from the outside.

She is the head of design at tattoo design company Tattoo Design Group, which is based in Melbourne.

She says the trend of wearing a tattoo is one of the biggest reasons why it has grown.

“Tattooing is very much a social experience for people who have had a lot of experiences with tattoos, which in this day and age has a lot to do with social anxiety,” she said.

In a way, it’s about having a sense of self-worth and empowerment.”

“I’ve heard anecdotally from tattooists and tattoo artists that there are definitely more tattoo artists than there are tattoo shops,” she says.

But it’s really difficult for women and for people of colour to get their own tattoo, and there are a lot fewer options for people to get tattoos in general.”

“As women get older, we start to feel like we’re more in need of being part of a community that’s looking after us,” she explains.

“We’re more connected and connected to the people around us, and it’s just easier for women to have a tattoo.”

The tattooing industry is one where diversity is key.

A recent study found more than a third of tattooists had experienced discrimination.

It found that one in five people in Australia was from a minority group.

Ms D says women are often targeted for discrimination in the tattoo industry.

“Women are just less likely to be asked about their ethnicity, their heritage, and they’re less likely in the tattoos industry to have their own agency,” she explained.

“So it’s not just that there’s less women in the industry, but that there aren’t as many women in tattooing as there are in the general tattoo industry.”

Tattoo designs have changed, but it’s still important to be recognisable Ms K says she wants tattoo artists to know they are still in the business of creating a tattoo that is distinctive.

“They’re still in a business that’s based on the art of making art,” she points out.

Ms N says tattoo designs need to be unique and reflect who the artist is.

“Sometimes, when you’re designing a design, there’s not enough information on it, and that can be a problem because people are very quick to make assumptions,” she tells us.

“Some people may think, ‘Well, it has to be that, and he’s a Muslim’.”

If you have someone who is very specific in their design and they have their work done, they’re going get it done.

“Ms M has a more traditional tattoo design.

“Or if you’ve got a triangle, you might have a square and you have a circle, and then you might do two triangles. “

When you design your design, you can have a really nice straight line that you’re creating,” she reveals.
